I’ll fight off my demons

I “borrow” Brand New’s slogan, and make it my own, in the very day when I’ll see them for the third time in my life.

Fight off your demons

And I say that I’ll fight off my demons because this weekend I will be driving into London.

London and driving have never been uttered together in the same sentence by me, unless it was in a negative sense. For example: “Driving in London is for mad people only”, or “Are you driving into London? You must be crazy”, etc.

But since tonight’s concert is in Wembley, and the TFL have somehow decided to close all the surrounding tube lines for engineering works this weekend, I thought the best solution would be to take the car and drive there. Now, some people may say: “But hold on, you can’t really say that Wembley IS in London” (erm, yes, I can). The problem is that after Wembley, on Sunday, we have planned to go into South Kensington, and that IS London.

My main concern is finding a car park. I know there aren’t that many public car parks in Central London, and I am somehow scared of leaving my poor old Micra in the streets for a prolonged period of time.

My second concern is getting lost. Of course we will take a satnav, but it wouldn’t be the first time that the satnav takes us funny places. I have looked at the route on google maps and it looks pretty much straight, but who knows where we’ll end up.

And last but not least, just to remind everyone that I have only been driving for 3 years and my driving-testing-area has always been in the quiet Surrey countryside. Never the city.

But I am fighting my demons off. I’m going to do it and not die trying. I know I can do it. Yes I can.

I´m completly sure that you´re not going to have any trouble at all and when you drive back home you´ll realize it wasn´t that bad! Enjoy and have fun!!

I didn’t die. I’m still alive and kicking. BUT, I still say that driving in London is just for mad people. Roads merging into one without any warning, left turns, no turns, honking, police, ambulances,…. Nah, not for me.. :)
