The first day of yet another year. OMG.
I remember, as a child, I used to say to my mum that time was very slow and I wished it would go faster (I think it was whilst I was in school and weeks seemed like months then) and I perfectly remember my mum saying back to me “Don’t wish that, because one day you’ll realise that time actually goes by much faster than you’d like to”. Now I know she was right. Time is going by so quickly that it seems silly to me.
Jon and I spent New Year’s Eve with his family last night. We had a lovely dinner (Jon and I prepared the starters, mum and dad the main course, and Steve and Karen the pudding), we played games and then watched the countdown on telly. I missed the grapes, but to be honest, what is the point of following a Spanish tradition when you’re the only Spaniard around and the rest of the people don’t even know what you’re talking about. I would have felt silly.

Then we talked about New Year’s resolutions, and Steve and Karen said that they didnd’t have any because they always give up and never fulfil them so this year they weren’t even going to try.
I think you HAVE to try, at least! There are so many things that I want to do but keep postponing, this is a very good excuse to at least start trying and see where that leads me to…
My list of this year’s resolutions is the following (in no particular order):
- Lose weight for the wedding (this will imply eating better and less quantities -not necessarily being on a diet- and doing more exercise -resume the aerobics and start going to Ceroc as well maybe-)
- Stop biting my nails (although I’ve been very good for the last few months already, but having my nails just one or two millimetres longer than my usual “very short” style is annoying the hell out of me and increasing my desire to bite them off!)
- Taking more pictures (I haven’t had the time or will to go out and take many pictures lately. I blame it on laziness. I love my camera and I love taking pictures and then playing with them on photoshop. So I have decided I am going to set myself a couple of projects over this year: Castles and Nightshots. Hopefully both projects will also help me get better with my shots!)
- Socialising more (I really want to try to socialise more, I don’t want to have to repeat the sentence “I don’t have any friends”, that’s why I want to join the WSIVC. The problem is that we look at the activities booklet and decide that we’re going to go to so many activities this month, but when the night in question arrives Jon and I look at each other and go “nah, let’s stay home”. This is going to change!)
I think that’s enough to keep me busy for the whole year!
What are your resolutions for this year?
Different traditions in UK and Spain »« Justice has been done in the end.
Guilty as charged. Well my new years resolutions are
1) Support Maria’s resolutions, which will in turn help me lose weight and keep fit.
2) to get back in touch with my good friends like Alan. Feeling considerably short on mates myself too…..
3) Go shooting with maria and make more use of my shiny new camera – I’ve been so busy lately!
2009 will be a great year!!!
